Handmade.

Handmade isn’t a buzzword for us, it’s a way of a life; and a guiding principle. Our passion for design, natural practices and traditional techniques inform every piece we make.

It begins with a tree, shaped by nature and perfected through craft.

Testimonials

  • Hoener Farms is born of inspiration and is a place where art and function meld. In this mass-produced and anonymously sourced world, it stands out as a place where you know the artisans who created what you have purchased, and the materials they have used. Some of the many adjectives that apply to their work are beautiful, soulful, functional, sustainable, and meaningful.

    Howard Thomas- Albuquerque, NM

  • Hoener Farms created an exquisite quarter sawn white oak coffee table for The Hütte, our little home outside of Rhinebeck, New York. Both my partner and I have a love for Japanese and Nordic aesthetics and traveled in Japan and Scandinavia. Paul is a practicing architect in NYC and I’m a painter with a degree in Interior Architecture and studied furniture design and construction in college.

    Camille Warmington, New York.

  • I saw Hoener Farms work at a trade fair in the Spring of 2022. I thought their craftsmanship and attention to detail was impressive and I asked them if they could make me a desk. It was a pleasure to work with them and the desk that they produced exceeded my expectations at every level. It is beautiful and a joy to use.

    Glenn Lowry, New York

  • The creator of this cutting board was so helpful. He is more of an artist. He even offered to look at photos of my countertop to be sure the board and my counters would look nice together. The cutting board itself is a work of art. Well worth the money and Jordan & Max delivered, as promised. I would definitely recommend this seller to anyone. Thank you for actually caring!

  • I ordered hand crafted cutting boards and wooden spoons. The craftsmanship is top notch and the received items are more beautiful than the pictures! Customer service is excellent. Hoener got the items to me promptly and followed up to make sure I liked them. I loved them!

    Leanne Kinnard- Arizona

  • Received my rolling pin yesterday and it is beautiful! It’s a functional piece of art! You can feel the love and care that was used in making it.

    Sandy Pierce- New Mexico

  • I purchased a kitchen island after seeing them written up in The Best of the Hudson Valley. They were very helpful in customizing to my likes and the size of my kitchen. Jordan and Max were very easy to work with and they delivered and installed. I love my kitchen island!

Keeping Tradition Alive

  • Superior materials combined with time tested techniques and care is our secret sauce. Our material choices inform every decision about a piece of furniture, from form to function.

We don’t just carefully source material, we are obsessive. Every piece of furniture is created from the same tree, ensuring continuity of grain and superior stability.

All of our material is local, from native hardwoods. Whenever possible we use storm fallen, salvaged and saved trees - often from our own property.

  • Joinery is perhaps the most enticing aspect of woodworking, a time honored tradition that is lost in today’s manufacturing. We strive to use the strongest and most elegant wood joinery in our pieces - even when hidden from sight.

  • Our goal is to create art through woodworking; functional furniture pieces that have been thoughtfully considered and endlessly fussed over.

  • Proportionality in design is perhaps the most important consideration in furniture making. The piece must be proportional in visual aspects, and in ultimate function. Studying even the most mundane characteristics of an object will often reveal secrets to its form.

  • “For the best return on your money, pour your purse into your head.”
    Benjamin Franklin

In our spare time we are learning, practicing and growing our craft. Everyday is an opportunity to expand our knowledge base and perfect a new technique.

  • To produce the finest furniture, we often incorporate techniques from other crafts - producing custom parts, hardware and fixtures in house.
